Prince Harry to visit Brazil and Chile

windsors:

Prince Harry will visit Brazil and Chile in June 2014. His Royal Highness will arrive in Brazil on 23rd June, before travelling to Chile on 26th June. The visit will conclude on Sunday 29th June.

The visit will be in support of the United Kingdom’s interests in the region and will reflect the strong relationship the two countries have with the UK. The visit will also allow Prince Harry to build on the links he began to forge in South America during his official visit to Brazil in March 2012.

The Prince will undertake engagements on behalf of HM Government and in support of some of his main charitable interests, including helping underprivileged young people, sustainable conservation issues, and promoting the work of the Armed Forces. He will also attend two FIFA World Cup matches during his visit to Brazil.

In Brazil Prince Harry will visit:

• Brasilia (23rd June): A hospital specialising in rehabilitation, orthopaedic and neuropsychological work. Also, the Cameroon v Brazil World Cup match
• Belo Horizonte (24th June): The training base for Team GB and Paralympics GB during the Rio 2016 Olympics. Also, the Costa Rica v England World Cup match
• Sao Paulo (25th – 26th June): An environmental project to help protect the Atlantic Rainforest; a community programme supporting disadvantaged children; The Queen’s Birthday Party hosted by the British Ambassador to Brazil at the GREAT Britain House; and a social project to help reduce crime and drug abuse.

In Chile Prince Harry will visit:

• Santiago (27th June): A wreath laying at the monument of Chile’s founding father Bernardo O’Higgins; the Presidential Palace for a meeting with President Michelle Bachelet. Also, a kindergarten for underprivileged children; a visit to a military unit;  and The Queen’s Birthday Party, hosted by the British Ambassador to Chile.
• Valparaiso (28th June): The firefighters of the 11th Fire Company (the British volunteers), representatives of the city’s other fire services and members of the British community; families affected by the Valparaiso fires in April 2014; and an NGO which provides emergency housing for those living in poverty.
• Santiago (29th June): A charitable foundation, that provides day care for children with mental and physical disabilities.
